  1. Today was my first offical day as a full time Social Worker (again). I have decided to take the full time position for a few months. It will be good to have the extra Christmas money and I never mind helping the agency out. I work for such a wonderful company. I think the hardest part about going full time is the judgements I get from other people who think it's horrible for me to work. So, please, don't judge me. It's very frustrating.

  2. The kids and I played a floor sized puzzle for about an hour today! They are so smart! The puzzle was of the map of the world, and Brody learned where we live, where mommy lived as a kid, where Dora lives, where Kai Lan lives, and where Nemo lives. I'm amazed at the brilliance of my children.

  3. We had a great family home evening tonight (althought it wasn't at home). We went to Flying Burrito for dinner and went over to Kenny's for dessert. The kids had fun playing games and just spending quality time with us and Kenny and Madison.

  4. Peyton has learned all the words to "You Are My Sunshine" and "The Wheels on the Bus." She loves to sing! We turn the radio off every time we get in the car and we sing different songs over and over. I love my little princess.

  5. Camera battery is still dead, but I will be taking it to the studio on Wednesday and charging it! Sorry for no "Picture of the day today." But aren't my kiddos so cute (mid fight)?

(Not the picture of the day but my camera battery is dead and my charger is no where to be found)...

  1. Today was a great day at church! I love being able to leave church feeling spiritually uplifted! Today was definitely one of those days. The kids were perfect during sacrament. Nick was sick, so he stayed home, and the Erickson girls sat with me and helped with the kids. I'm grateful to have great friends in the ward, and young women who are so valiant and wonderful examples to me and my children.

  2. I got a nap after church! An hour and a half to be exact!

  3. I finished my book "Between Sisters". It was good, but not as good as anything by Jodi Picoult.

  4. The kids and I went to Tommy and April's after church to celebrate Tommy's 27th birthday! Happy Birthday Tommy Lowden!

  5. The kids had a blast playing with all of the Lowden kids (April and Tommy's 2 and all of the cousins).

  1. Brody had his first soccer game today! The Sounders won!! Woop woop!!! I loved watching Brody out there having fun...even if he just danced around and made friends with the other team. He loves soccer and that's all that matters!

  2. Today is the 9th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. My heart hurts and is sad for those who lost their lives, and those they left behind. My prayer is that nothing like that ever happens again in our country. Thank you to all those who serve our country every day. I love all of you.

  3. After having a house full of sickies for a week, we were all a little stir crazy. Not feeling too hot, but we did manage to get out and go for a walk around the mall. I picked up this little neck wrap that you put in the microwave to relieve stress. Can't wait to use it!

  4. We let Peyton and Brody choose a toy at the mall. Peyton chose a toy broom! Nick and I were laughing so hard. She is definitely our little helper!

  5. Brody chose a nerf ball blaster! He is having a lot of fun right now shooting the balls at Nick and singing "Missed me, missed me, now you gotta kiss me!" Love that kid!

  1. Sarah is pregnant!!! Woohoo for my lovely sister in law and brother in law, Nick. I'm so excited for them and little Jude to welcome the newest bundle of joy into their home!

  2. Nick was super sick today. He was up all night throwing up. I'm not feeling so hot myself, so this may be a short post.

  3. I helped out at work today. I am considering going back to full time through the winter for some extra Christmas money and so we can buy the van I want in the spring and pay cash. What do you all think?

  4. My mother in law bought the kids "Flarp"...you know, the gooey stuff that makes tooting noises when you push on it in the container. Yeah, that stuff. The kids are having so much fun playing with it, and every time Brody makes a "noise", Peyton says "Scoose you Bubby!" and then they giggle! It's so funny!

  5. The kids and I are having a slumber party in the play room due to the germs filling my house right now from Nick's stomach bug. Say a prayer that we don't get it too!

  1. Today was a very busy, yet rainy days. I love rainy days...when they are slow and lazy. Today was a little too busy for my liking.

  2. Taco soup again for dinner. The kids threw a fit. They couldn't believe we were having taco soup again! Peyton kept saying "I no yike taw-toe woop." She gets that from her brother. The child has never met a food she didn't like, but she is so used to hearing Brody say he doesn't want to eat something, so she is picking up on that too.

  3. While I was out delivering Scentsy, Nick left the kids in the kitchen for a few minutes. During those few minutes, Brody had gotten on the counter, got the remainder of the brownie/cookies (remember the ones he refused to eat last night)? and he and Peyton finished them off! Nick said he didn't know if he should be mad or laugh...I chose to laugh. Some things are just too funny to get mad about.

  4. The kids fell in love with the Scentsy box (pictured). They have been playing in it all day. Brody told me he was moving into the box and he is going to start sleeping in there and living there all the time.

  5. Right now, the kids are watching Harry Potter. This is the first movie that has kept Peyton's attention for longer than 5 minutes. I'm going to go enjoy this peaceful moment.

(I had to do 2 pictures tonight because I couldn't get 1 good one of the both of them, only 2 good ones of 1 of them!)
  1. My social work friends will appreciate this lovely home visit story. I took our new intern on a home visit with me today to visit with a sweet man who recently lost his wife and is struggling with the grief. I sat down on the couch and instantly fell something fall down the front of my shirt. I glanced down and could see something brown. Thinking it was a fuzz ball, or perhaps a small spider, I inconspicuously pressed the brown ball together with the outside of my shirt. However, that did not do the trick. For the entirety of the visit (50 minutes to be exact), I could feel something moving around on my chest. I am PETRIFIED of bugs. The thought of having one crawling on me was giving me the heeby jeebies more than anything in this world. But I could NOT get up and leave, as the man was very tearful and we were making a good connection. I also could not reach my hand down my bra and grab out whatever creepy crawly thing was exploring in there. So, I sat there. I held it together, I was present with the client, and I kept a straight face. That right there should practically exalt me to LCSW status instantly. After the 50 minute session and a 20 minute drive back to the office (I didn't know the intern well enough to pull my shirt out and expose all to her in the car to go searching for a tiny creepy crawly), I went into the bathroom and checked to see what was bothering me. It was a TICK!!!!!! I seriously almost had a heart attack in the bathroom. There is one thing worst in this world than spiders, and that is ticks!! I can NOT stand the thought of them being anywhere near me, but to be aware of it's tiny little legs walking all over me for well over an hour, was enough to make me sick.
  2. We had taco soup for dinner. I LOVE fall, and I love soup season! There is nothing better than making a yummy pot of soup, smelling it simmering, and eating it for lunch and dinner for a week! I have been looking forward to fall for along time and am thankful that it's almost here.
  3. As I am writing this blog, Peyton took the cushion off the couch and she and Brody started jumping. As they were jumping, Brody let out a blood curdeling scream. He had lost his shark tooth in the cushion and he jumped on it. The tooth pierced his foot and he was bleeding like crazy. 6 sesame street bandaids and lots of kisses later, and I think he is going to survive. It was very traumatic though. He just stated "Oh, we should not have been doing that."
  4. I felt like baking tonight so I made this brownie/cookie supreme bars. I cannot believe it, but I had to BEG Brody to eat one. He kept telling me that cookies and brownies were not supposed to go together and that he JUST wanted brownies. He was quite surprised at how well they really went together when I finally got him to try one. They were super yummy!
  5. Peyton took a 2 1/2 hour nap...starting at 4:30 tonight!! It is going to be a LOOOOOOOONG night for daddy! :)

(I need to look at this picture anytime they frazzle me...they are such precious angels when they are sleeping!)
  1. I learn every day at my job, how precious, and short, our lives truly are. I was reminded this again today when I learned of the death of Micayla Patterson. A 17 year old Senior from Har-Ber highschool, who was killed in a car accident on the way home from a John Mayer concert this weekend. My heart goes out to her parents and her friends. We never do know the date or the time, but I do know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who has been blessed with one more precious daughter in his Kingdom.

  2. This loss makes me want to hug my babies a little tighter, be more present with them each day, and never overuse "I love you". You never know when the last time you see someone you love will be.

  3. On a lighter note, Jenni came over tonight with the kiddos. I love having such a great friend close by and I love our Tuesday night "dates". It's nice to have some intellectual (and sometimes not so intellecutal) conversations with an adult, and our kids play together so well. They look forward to it every week!

  4. I had a yummy lunch today...paid for by Vista Health! It is Suicide Awareness week, and the Crisis Center and Vista hosted a luncheon at Carrabas (YUM)!

  5. Brody told me out of the blue today that he loved me, and that I was a great mom!!! I love that kid!

  1. Happy Labor Day!!!
  2. We slept in today…beautiful! The kids woke up around 9:30 and we lounged around until 10:30, and then went to iHop for brunch.
  3. After brunch, we came home and Ryan came over. It was the first time he has ever been to our house, so it was fun to show him around!
  4. We ended the day at the Lowden's for lunch/dinner and football!
  5. The kids are sleeping, and that's where I'm headed! J Night night!

  1. Church was very humbling today. I love Fast Sundays, when we are given the opportunity to ponder about our testimonies, and share them with the congregation. I did not go up today, but would like to share my testimony on this blog. I know that my Savior lives. I know that He loves me and that He atoned for my sins so that I could live with Him again someday. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he restored Christ's church to the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet today and that he leads and guides the church with direct revelation from the Lord. I know that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God, as is the Bible. I know that our families can be together forever. I am grateful for all of these things, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

  2. After church, we went to Nana's house for dinner with Nana, Uncle Bill, and my brother, Ryan, who just flew in from Washington yesterday. It is always wonderful to see my family...especially since they live so far away!

  3. We watched Sharkboy and Lava girl with Brody. Wow, that is a GREAT movie (NOT!) Brody enjoyed it though, so that is all that matters.

  4. I stayed up until 3:00am last night working on Family History. It is ADDICTING! I found a lady on Ancestry.com who has done a family tree on the Shaw side all the way back to the 900's! It is all so interesting!

  5. Finally, this picture is relavent for today, because it is day 3 of Peyton going all day with no diapers and NO accidents! I would go as far as to say that my daughter is officially POTTY TRAINED at 26 months!!! I'm so proud of my little Peytor-Tot!!

  1. Slept in til' 9:30! I don't think I need to say more than that to describe how wonderfully amazing this day started out!

  2. Brody had soccer practice today. He did awesome! He is doing really good at learning to back the ball up and out of the goal, and is working on kicking the ball into the goal. They also did some team building exercises to learn sportsmanship and team work. I love having Brody in soccer. It brings out the best of him, and I love watching him have so much fun!

  3. After soccer, we went to Sam's club and let the kids (and us) fill up on samples for lunch! YUM! Free lunch for all!! (We did buy things too...we aren't total moochers.) :)

  4. After Sams, BOTH kids fell asleep, and Nick and I had 2 hours of peace and quiet. Nick watched football while I worked on geneology. I am really enjoying doing my family history, and it's interesting to see how the different lines of my family branch out, and to learn about the different people I am related to.

  5. We ended the night with some great friends! We went to the Erickson's house for the hog game and food. Great friends, great food, great game! We couldn't have asked for more! Thanks, Dave and Jess!!!

  1. I woke up this morning to sweetness all around. Peyton and Brody woke up at the same time (they slept in my bed because of the storm). When the kids arose, Brody instantly turned on the charm. He said things to Peyton like "Do you want to come to the living room with me and cuddle bubby?" or "can I get you something to eat, Sissy?" He is such a good brother! Despite the fact that I was not ready to wake up, nothing pleases this momma more than seeing my kids show love to one another.

  2. Peyton decided that the first thing she wanted to do this morning was see "Bun Bun" our pet rabbit, who lives in the laundry room. The kids went in there to let her out, as I was still laying in bed. A minute later I hear them come running to the room hollering that Bun Bun is not in the laundry room. I climbed out of bed and looked around, and then saw that the dryer door was open. That is when I saw what is pictured in today's picture. Bun Bun decided that she was going to lay in the dryer!

  3. Nick and I had to go look at some wood flooring in Fayetteville today, and I have been suffering from really bad back pain lately, so while we were there, we went to La Vida and got a 1 hour couples massage. It was awesome! The best date we have had in a long time! Nothing rejuvinates me more than having a good massage!

  4. After the massage, we went to Rhea Lana's and bought Brody some clothes for the fall. We got some GREAT deals on clothes and on Leapster games! I got 2 brand new games for $6.00! Today was the half priced day, so we got everything half off.

  5. Finally, we finished the night off with a family date to Freds Hickory Inn. I would highly recommend it!!! Nick had lasagna, Brody had Mac-N-Cheese, Peyton had grilled chicken strips, and I had parmesan spagetti. We topped it off with Mississippi Mud Pie! YUM!! What a GREAT day!!!

  1. Today is soccer day! Brody had a blast at his second soccer practice. The kids practiced kicking the ball into the goal, passing, and backing the ball up. Carston and Jackson bonked heads and Carston got a huge goose egg on his head. Brody and daddy stayed after practice to work on some drills. They both had a blast!

  2. Brody played around with daddy's electronic measuring tool. While shooting different things with the laser in the house, he exclaimed "According to my calculations...it looks like lightening!" He is right...lightening is coming! Bring on the thunderstorms!

  3. We talked to a contractor today, Dave Trudo. We have known the Trudo's for years, and look forward to hopefully working with Dave on remodeling our kitchen and living room!

  4. Peyton and I went and got our toes done with Emily! We love getting happy toes! Peyton got bright pink, and I got a shiny mauve color!

  5. The kids went to Grandma's for the first time in a while today and played with Tashya.

(if you can't see the check, it is written out for $11,240.09...another $1800 to come after the work is done!)
  1. The first exciting thing today was that I got my new work laptop! Yeah for being mobile and functional! :)

  2. Peyton and Brody went to their friends, Colton and Tucker's house today. They had a blast playing with their friends from church! Thanks again, Jennifer! You are awesome!

  3. The insurance man came tonight to inspect our water damage. Good news is, we are getting new floors, cabinets, countertops, backsplash tiles, and baseboards. Bad news is, the check is made out to both of us, and our mortgage company. Our mortgage company is one of many who refuse to sign the check and send it back to the homeowner to manage. Instead, they are going to micromanage and pay in thirds to whichever contractor we choose. Either way, the work will get done, I just have a feeling it will be more of a headache this way. Yeah for remodeling though!!! :)

  4. Nick has Elders Quorum Presidency meeting tonight. I love watching my husband enjoy a calling and fulfill it well. I'm proud of you, baby!

  5. Cute Peyton terms for the day: "Nook in bow"= "milk in a bowl," "I doodoo"= "I'll do it." and finally "Bah night"= "I want to take a bath!" Haha! I love her cute little pronounciations!
